Overview

  • Zhangjiajie, located in the northwest of Hunan Province, is between the elevated region of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. It features the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the scenic Wulingyuan area, and the Shuangcha Valley in the nature reserve. Zhangjiajie is likened to a fairyland with over 3,000 pillars and cliffs of various shapes formed from sandstone, many rising over 300 meters. This unique landscape inspired the 3D blockbuster film Avatar.
  • Fenghuang, an ancient town in the Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in western Hunan Province, is about 53 km from Jishou (Cangzhou) and 280 km from Zhangjiajie. Fenghuang is an economic, political, and social center of the region. Situated beside the Tuo River, the ancient town preserves many fortresses, old streets, traditional houses, and temples. At 1,300 years old, Fenghuang is a living museum of ethnic culture.
  • Furong Town is an ancient town with over 2,000 years of history, known as the “hanging town” due to its location on a waterfall.
